January 22, 2010 - Dave Michayluk Jersey Retirement Night

The Jacks pay tribute to legendary Lumberjack Dave "Boris" Michayluk on January 22nd.  His #27 jersey will join the ranks of Moose Lallo, Lynn Margarit, Joe Kastelic, Gary Ford, Bryan McLay, Bob Tombari, Scott Gruhl, and Scott Feasby when it is hung from the rafters.

"Boris" played in Muskegon for the Lumberjacks for seven years.  He helped to lead the team to Turner Cup Championships in 1985-86 and 1988-89.  He was named to the IHL All-Star team seven years.  He scored at least 100 points in each of the seven seasons with Muskegon.  Michayluk has the most points in Lumberjack history (769), the most points in a season (137), and the most career games played as a Lumberjack (564).

Michayluk spent 21 games in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, including a Stanley Cup Championship in 1992 with the Pens where he had a goal and an assist to help out.

Michayluk retired in 1996-97 ranked No. 2 in IHL history for career goals (594), No. 3 for career points (1,298) and No. 4 for career assists (704). Today, he ranks among the few in all levels of professional hockey to post nine consecutive 100 point seasons during his career.
