MUSKEGON, Michigan (December 7th) – The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that affiliate Forward Connor Hurley (Eagan, Minnesota) has committed to play his college hockey for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish out of the Hockey East Conference beginning in the 2014-15 season.

Hurley was the third overall pick in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft by the Lumberjacks and is currently a junior in high school playing for Edina High School in Minnesota. Hurley has played in two games this season with the Lumberjacks totaling three assists in a weekend home-and-home series against the Chicago Steel back on October 19th and 20th, respectively.

“Academics are very important to my family and I, and Notre Dame does not fall short in that category,” said Hurley. “The coaching staff made me feel right at home and were very professional. The new hockey facilities were a nice addition, including the new top of the line ice rink.”

This season, Hurley has 15 points (8 goals and 7 assists) in 6 games played and also spent last season with Edina totaling 58 points (26 goals and 32 assists) in 30 games. Prior to playing with Edina, Hurley played his freshman year for Holy Angels High School in Minnesota accumulating 37 points (10 goals and 27 assists) in 26 games to go along with a plus-29 rating. In the 2009-10 season, Hurley played for the Shattuck-St. Mary’s Tier I Bantam team in Minnesota, where he totaled 59 points (20 goals and 39 assists) in 58 games.

Connor is the younger brother of Lumberjacks Forward Cullen Hurley, who is in his first full season with the Lumberjacks and has seven points (four goals and three assists) in 21 games played.
