MUSKEGON, Michigan (December 12th) – The Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced that Swedish Forward Villiam Haag will join the team for the next month beginning Thursday night on the road against the Indiana Ice.
The Gothenburg, Sweden native was acquired via a loan from Frolunda (J20 SuperElit League), where he currently leads the team with 30 points (19 goals and 11 assists) in 25 games played. This season was Haag’s fifth in the Frolunda organization and will be his first appearance playing in North America.
“We appreciate the efforts of the Frolunda organization for allowing Villiam (Haag) to come overseas and showcase his talents in North America,” said Lumberjacks Owner, General Manager, and CEO Josh Mervis. “This is an exciting time for Villiam (Haag) playing for the first time in North America, and we know that he will put forth his best efforts while donning the Lumberjacks uniform.”
Haag will play through the January 6th, 2013 game against the Des Moines Buccaneers at home while Defenseman Rasmus Bengtsson (Sweden) and Forward Frederik Tiffels (Germany) represent their respective countries in the 2013 IIHF Under-20 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.
