Lumberjacks Land NHL Prospect Matej Paulovič

The Slovakian forward will make his USHL debut for Muskegon following the Christmas break

MUSKEGON, Michigan (December 17th) – The Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced that they have added Forward Matej Paulovič, who last played with the Peterborough Petes out of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), to the active roster, and he will make his USHL debut during the Lumberjacks’ next game at home against the Youngstown Phantoms on Sunday, December 29th.  With the addition of Paulovič, the Lumberjacks have now reached their maximum number of import players on the active roster of four.

Paulovič, the Topolcany, Slovakia native, spent the beginning part of the 2013-14 season with the Petes totaling two goals and two assists in 18 games played after being drafted by the organization 8th overall in 2013 Canadian Hockey League (CHL) Import Draft.

Additionally, Paulovič was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the fifth-round (149th overall) during the 2013 NHL Entry Draft this past June and was also a Lumberjacks’ Futures Draft pick in the sixth-round (76th overall) back in 2011.

Prior to coming overseas to play in North America, Paulovič spent two seasons from 2011-13 playing in Sweden for the Färjestad hockey program accumulating 72 points (30 goals and 42 assists) to go along with a plus-43 rating in 94 games played.  Internationally, the Slovakian has also participated in numerous tournaments for Slovakia’s national junior teams recording 19 points (9 goals and 10 ten assists) in 42 career international games played.

Following the league-wide two-week holiday break, the Lumberjacks will return home for the team’s only Sunday home game of the season on December 29th against the Youngstown Phantoms at 5:15 pm that will feature Car Load Night.  Fans can pile any number of people into one car for the low price of $40 that will include a ticket to the game along with a complimentary parking pass.

Individual game tickets will be on sale for the next two weeks for the December 29th home game for the low price of $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 3-12 if they are purchased before the day of the game.  Tickets can be purchased at the Lumberjacks’ Box Office or by calling (231) 724-5225.
