MUSKEGON, MI- The Muskegon Lumberjacks have added free agent defenseman Blake Evennou, the team announced Thursday.
Born in 1998, Evennou (EHV-eh-no) hails from Macomb, MI, and spent last season playing in the North American Hockey League with Lone Star. The 5-foot-9, 181-pound defenseman helped the Brahmas win the Robertson Cup in 2016-17.
In the regular season, Evennou played in 50 games, tallying four goals and 12 assists. He suited up for nine playoff games, but did not register a point.
A steady, smart defender, Evennou was drafted by Central Illinois in the 6th round of the 2017 Phase II USHL draft. He was released by the Flying Aces Wednesday and assistant coach Josh Nelson took immediate action.
“After seeing him play while coaching in the NAHL last year, I knew Blake would be a strong addition to our team,” said Nelson. “He’s very smart, mobile, and can make plays. He’s a strong all-around defenseman that we’re excited to have in Muskegon.”
Evennou will wear #15, and will be making the Jacks’ opening road trip to Lincoln and Des Moines this weekend. Fans can catch the games live on 92.5 Nash Icon or HockeyTV.com. Friday’s season opener is scheduled for 8:35pm.
