MUSKEGON, MI- The Muskegon Lumberjacks have added forward Benito Posa from the Austin Bruins of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
The 18-year-old from Grand Blanc, MI has scored six goals, adding one assist in 17 games this season for the first-place Bruins. Posa’s 78 penalty minutes rank second in the NAHL.
Posa, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 175 pounds, attended the Lumberjacks’ main camp this spring, and made an impression on head coach John LaFontaine.
“Benito plays a strong 200-foot game,” said LaFontaine. “He plays hard and will add a physical presence to our forward lineup.”
Posa figures to step right into a Muskegon lineup that is short forwards. Michael Graham remains on IR with concussion symptoms and while Mikael Hakkarainen is getting closer to returning to the ice, there is no official timetable for his return.
Posa and the Lumberjacks continue their current homestand this weekend at LC Walker Arena. On Friday, the Jacks face the red-hot Waterloo Black Hawks, who have points in their last five consecutive games, winning four of those. On Saturday, Muskegon faces the Central Illinois Flying Aces on Reeths-Puffer community night.
Puck drop for both games is scheduled for 7:15pm, with doors opening at 6:15pm. Don’t miss happy hour before each game! From 6:15pm until the beginning of the national anthem, enjoy $2 beers. Call 231-726-2400 for tickets.
