Muskegon Lumberjacks pick up needed size in trade with Sioux City Musketeers

MUSKEGON - The Muskegon Lumberjacks have made a trade with the Sioux City Musketeers.

Muskegon sends to Sioux City forwards AJ Hodges and Jake LaRusso along with a ninth round Phase 2 Draft pick.

The Lumberjacks receive forwards Viktor Masilevich (7-26-00) and David Hymovitch (8-14-03) and a fifth round Phase 2 pick.

The trade gives Muskegon strength up front with the Belarus native Masilevich and brings in another strong player with Hymovitch.

“He fits well with our model and program and we are excited he’s a national team player for Belarus,” said Steve Lowe, President of Hockey Operation for Muskegon. “Viktor is a bigger skater that can skate well and we felt we needed more size up front. This also allowed us to pick up a good player in David and lets us recruit another draft pick.”

The 6-1 Masilevich comes to Muskegon with six goals and eight assists in 28 games played for Sioux City this season.

“This trade is an opportunity that lets us approach what we are doing today and moving forward long term,” said Lowe. “If we work on what we need to do each day, the process of making this the best team is going to take care of itself, and that’s what this trade is about.”
