MUSKEGON, MI- Muskegon Lumberjacks defenseman Hank Kempf has been named to the USHL All-Academic team, putting him among the top five students in the league.
Kempf was also named to the USHL’s All-Rookie second team after compiling 17 points in 49 games for Muskegon. Hank’s +18 rating was the second-best mark on the team, and the best among all rookie defensemen.
“We are excited to see Hank being honored for his hard work in the classroom,” said Head Coach Mike Hamilton. “Hank just goes about his business at a high level on and off the ice, and continues to lead by example and be a coach’s dream.”
Kempf carried an astounding 4.95 weighted GPA during his senior year at New Trier High School. Kempf identified math as his favorite subject in school, but plans to study business at Cornell University after his USHL career is over.
Kempf plans to return to Muskegon for the 2020-2021 USHL season, and figures to slot in on Muskegon’s top pair once again, as he did last year.
The All-Academic team was composed of Kempf, Dubuque’s Riley Stuart and Stephen Halliday; Tri-City’s Kyle Aucoin, and Madison’s Jack Horbach.
