MUSKEGON, MI- Danil Gushchin, a two-year stalwart for the Lumberjacks, was taken in the third round of the NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks. Gushchin, who hails from Yekaterinburg, Russia, had 22 goals and 25 assists for the Lumberjacks in the 19-20 season.
"He's a great skater and one of the hardest working guys we've had and I know he has a bright future" said Coach Mike Hamilton. "With his work ethic and talent, the Sharks have a player with whom they can develop into an exciting NHL player."
This is the third year in a row in which the Jacks have had players drafted in the first three rounds of the NHL Draft (2018 Andrei Svechnikov, first round to the Carolina Hurricanes, 2019 Egor Afanasyev, second round to the Nashville Predators and now Danil Gushchin).

The Jacks' USHL home opener is slated for Friday. November 27, 2020 against the Youngstown Phantoms. On sale date for tickets will be announced in the next two weeks.
