MUSKEGON, MI- The Muskegon Lumberjacks exploded with 4 goals in the second period to gain a 7-4 win over the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

The Mystique Community Ice Center will be the Lumberjacks second home for the months of November and December, as they play 4 games in Dubuque the next six weeks.

In the first period, both teams had a hard time getting offensive zone time. The Saints found traction first with a few scoring chances and a goal by Connor Kurth at 14:29. The Saints held that momentum until the 12 minute mark after Jacks forward Danil Guchshin skated hard on his shift. After a few scoring chances, the Jacks drew a tripping penalty and went on the power play with eight minutes and thirty seconds to go in the period. The Jacks scored a minute into the power play as Cameron Berg scored on a great cross ice pass from Danil Guchshin. To finish off the period, the Jacks killed off a holding penalty with a great stick check by Jacob Guevin that saved a Saints tap in goal.

In the second, the Jacks scored three minutes in as Cameron Berg scored his second goal dekeing the Saints goalie after receiving a great neutral zone pass from Dylan Wendt. The Jacks kept their momentum with two more goals just two minutes apart. The first was scored by Christophe Tellier standing in front of the net as he received a pass out of the corner from Christophe Fillion. The second was scored by Owen Mehlenbacher who had a two on one chance with Cameron Berg and shot it top corner. After a few power plays that generated good chances, the Jacks scored another as Christophe Fillion scored one set up by John Larkin from the side of the net. The Lumberjacks took a penalty with 1:52 left in the second and Dubuque scored a power play goal to end the period in favor of the Lumberjacks, 5-2.

In the third, the Jacks scored a minute in as Danil Gushchin scored off his own rebound. After a power play that generated nothing for the Jacks, the Saints gained some momentum. Connor Kurth scored his second of the night for the Saints on a quick turn around shot with 18:42 left in the period. The Saints scored again quickly as Kurth scored his third goal after a bad give away by the Jacks in their own zone. After some four on four hockey mid-period, the Jacks killed a penalty and generated several more chances. Later, Danil Gushchin sent a great pass to Jacob Guevin in the high slot who scored with 4:02 left in the period, eventually resulting in the Lumberjacks  taking the contest 7-4.
