LUMBERJACKS ADD KEY PIECES FOR PLAYOFF PUSH

MUSKEGON, MI - The Muskegon Lumberjacks have announced a trade with the Lincoln Stars involving five players and two draft picks. Muskegon will send defenseman Hunter Skinner, forward Brock Bremer, two draft picks, and a player to be named later to Lincoln in return for forward Max Ellis and defenseman Declan Carlile.

Carlile, a 2000-born rookie blueliner from Hartland, MI, has appeared in 32 games with the Stars, scoring three goals and adding 11 assists. Carlile's strong play and upside has been noted by NHL Central Scouting, who tabbed him a 4th-7th round prospect for the 2019 NHL draft.

The Jacks also added forward Max Ellis, a 2000-born forward with a wealth of USHL experience. Ellis has played 157 games in the USHL, recording 32 goals and 49 assists. He's scored eight goals and 12 assists in 34 games this season for the Central Illinois Flying Aces and Lincoln Stars.

Ellis began his career with the Youngstown Phantoms, who tendered Ellis prior to the '16-'17 season. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound forward is committed to Notre Dame.

Bremer and Skinner will head to Lincoln in the deal, along with a fourth-round Phase II draft pick in 2019, a 4th-round, Phase I pick in 2020, and a player to be named later.

Bremer potted seven goals and 11 assists through 30 games with the Lumberjacks, while Skinner's two-year career in Muskegon spanned 55 games and totaled 11 points.

"Ellis is a skilled forward that plays with a lot of speed,” said head coach Mike Hamilton. “He should be a huge addition to our scoring punch.”

Coach added that, “Carlile is a top defenseman who sees the ice well. He’ll be a welcomed edition to our special teams units.”

The Lumberjacks take the road this weekend for a three-game trip visiting Tri-City (1/18-19) and, ironically, Lincoln (1/20). Friday’s game versus the Tri-City Storm is also the USHL Game of the Week. Fans can view FREE at ushl.HockeyTV.com
